About the event

Innovative Strategies for Sustainable Development. As the world faces unprecedented challenges such as climate change, technological disruption, and shifting global trade dynamics, it's crucial to critically assess sustainable economic development pathways. While China's development model, marked by adaptive innovation, state-led initiatives, and gradual reform, has fostered its economic transformation, this workshop will critically explore these strategies in light of China's rapid growth, and environmental and social challenges. We will probe into the future steps in China's economic evolution, questioning how it will balance innovation with sustainable development, and the role of technological advancements and digital transformation. Additionally, the workshop will scrutinize China's methods in addressing global economic uncertainties, environmental concerns, and demographic shifts, providing a balanced view of both its achievements and ongoing challenges. This workshop aims to provide a platform for rigorous academic debate, policy analysis, and collaborative learning, contributing to the global discourse on sustainable development and economic transformation. The Conference will include a distinguished keynote speaker, roundtable forums, and parallel sessions.Keynote Speaker Justin Yifu Lin (Peking University, Beijing, China)The organizing committee welcomes both empirical and theoretical contributions regarding various aspects of the Chinese economy, society, history, culture, politics, its role in international relations, and health and sustainable development.Important DatesExtended Abstract submission deadline: January 31st, 2024 Latest Acceptance decision: February 7th, 2024 Registration deadline: April 15th, 2024 Full paper submission deadline: April 30th, 2024We invite the submission of an abstract in English (500-800 words) from experienced and early-career researchers, including PhD students, to be sent to china.conference@iqs.url.eduConference registration fee:Regular190 EURStudent90 EURAccommodation and travel arrangements will be left to participants.A Best Paper Award of 500 EUR will be granted to the best early-career paper (authors under 36).
